Good Evening Guys,
Here is some information and updates:

Second half greens fees:
I am only at 50% for the collected dues! I had 12 of these with the
initial payments.... Hey guys, I need ALL of the money ASAP!! I have to
have all of the checks cleared BEFORE I write the check on next
Wednesday!! If you have not written your check, get it in the mail ASAP!!

Beer Nights:
I think there is a big misunderstanding about "Beer Nights". Here are
the basic costs to beer nights: A keg costs us $185 plus we tip the
bartender and waitress each $20. This means beer night costs us $220 for
the total. We have had three beer nights so far... We have NOT covered
the costs for two of them (one had a very generous donation!! TNX
Pete). We always give away balls and some times other items (tonight a
 hat).

Beer night is not a profit night for the league. It was designed to get
all of the league members together. If you do not drink, there is
always soda available. We want EVERYONE to get together.... It is a night
 for friendship and fun!!

I am open to ideas, suggestions, and etc....

Hats:
I still have a couple of hats left. Yes there is one for every one! As
they say, "Catch me if you can". They should be available, I am trying
to keep them in my truck.

Shirts/Jacket:
Lots of interest in the polo shirts and jackets. Let me know if you are
 interested....

WEB Site:
For those who were outside for tonight's beer night, Heather Fazio
finally made it to a beer night!! It was great to meet Heather, and I know
she was very happy to meet every one!! THANK YOU Heather!! The league
 bought her a few brews....

TNX Will

Good Afternoon Guys, We need to start collecting the second half greens fees by May 28th! I am asking every one to please mail the dues. I will be at the May beer night (happens to be the 28th). I may even hang out a bit each week, but mailing to the PO box make life easy! If you are planning on paying cash, please put your money in an envelope with your name on it. That way, I do not get in trouble... some times things gets nuts and I have to remember who gave what.... So far, no harm.... but ;-) So I need $112 cash or check made out to AOH Golf League Mailing address is: AOH Golf League PO Box 3 Troy NY 12182 Please let me know if you have any questions! Will

E-mail from Andy (May 2, 2008)

We are now 2 weeks in and it seems as though there are many matches to be made up.  Several of you have contacted me regarding this, but many have not.  If you have a match to be made up, it needs to be made up within 2 weeks from the original date.  If you have circumstances where you need more time, you need to communicate that to me.  I will let them go for a while, but after some point, I will just assign 0 points to both participants.  Communication is key!!

Also, I understand that our participation at beer night was very light.  Beer nights are intended to be a social gathering for our members.  It is a time to get to know more about each other and strengthen the friendship bond that we currently have.  I strongly urge you to attend.  Even if you don’t drink, we always have soda available.  Please get involved.

2008 Season Notes from Don McLaughlin (March 1, 2008)

Following up on Andy’s email below.  The Officers have met couple weeks ago and we split up the Flights and you should be being contacted to confirm your participation in the League this year.  As always, it should be a fun year.  We have 2 drops that we know of right now and the waiting list is posted on our website.  www.aohgolf.com   Heather by the way does a great job with the site guys.  It blows away anything I’ve seen for a Golf League.  Thanks as always Heather.

We have tentatively set up our spring meeting on Wednesday March 19 up at Frear Park.  I realized after the fact and if there are significant concerns that this is during Holy Week please speak up.  Otherwise we are going ahead as planned.  If anyone wants I can read the Passion according to John (Daley?) during the meeting.  They have set up the Pro shop area as a small banquet room – going to be tight but should be OK.

Meeting with the City is on Mar 12 so more details to follow.  But here was some information from the packet they sent Andy:

1st half of league payments due to the City Friday, April 11th

2nd half of league payments due to the City Friday, June 6th

Leagues tentatively start 4/21-4/25 April 23rd being the Wednesday of that week

So we are going to need Money up front to pay the City so come prepared with some cash that night….figure on about $200 bucks for dues and green fees for first half.  Payment in Full would be appreciated by Will at the meeting so he is not chasing anyone’s sorry butt afterwards.

Also here also is a couple of By Law changes that we need to approve:  Given we need cash up front, The Bylaws only speak to Dues being paid by third night of the league.  This clearly needs to change.  Will can tell you that being Treasurer is thankless and he should not have to chase anyone.  So I propose a simple rule.  Basically very simple:  no pay – no play.  Recommend Green Fees to be paid to the Treasurer for First half by one week before being due to the City (April 4 in this case) and Dues in total by the first week of play (preferably sooner and with the 1st half green fees).  2nd half green fees also as noted at least one week in advance of City payment date.  If you are not current – then you will not be allowed to play and there will be an immediate forfeit of the match.

I would also like to propose that we keep the $90 dues but that we terminate the $0.25 per point that we play for and that money be put into tournaments.  The officers also thought we annually should get all members a hat or a shirt with AOH logo etc every year.  We do have one of the best Leagues in the Capital District so why not show it.  Does anyone really care that you got back $6.75 from your point money at the end of the year?  Ask Will again what a pain in the ass that is to count all that out.

Bylaws also say we only have 5 Flights so we need to change that to 6.

OK.  See you on the 19th.  Not everyone in the League may have email so if you know someone like Pete Ensel not on this distribution list above, please reach out to them.

 Sláinte.   Thanks.  Don..

Here’s some simple rules to show courtesy to your fellow AOHers:   Play fast…keep up with the group in front of you(can’t ask for more than that), play your matches head to head, and don’t leave your opponent wondering where you are or when you are going to show up.  Again, most of us have cell phones and emails boys…..it’s a connected world.  If everyone follows these simple rules, then it would be a great year.
